Description

This 15 Minute Easy Margherita Flatbread Pizza is a quick and delicious twist on the classic Italian Margherita. Made with naan bread, fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a flavorful garlic-infused balsamic drizzle, this recipe delivers a crispy, savory pizza that’s perfect for a fast weeknight dinner or a light lunch.

Ingredients

Flatbread Base

  • 1 naan bread

Toppings

  • 3 pieces fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced to ⅓ – ½ inch thickness)
  • 1 tomato (sliced as thin as possible)
  • 5-6 leaves fresh basil (chopped)

Garlic Oil Mixture

  • 3 cloves garlic (pressed) or 1 tsp dry garlic powder
  • 1.5 Tbsp olive oil

Additional

  • 1.5 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic Oil: Press 3 cloves of fresh garlic and combine with 1.5 tablespoons of olive oil, mixing well to infuse the oil with garlic flavor.
  2. Brush and Crisp the Flatbread: Brush half of the garlic oil mixture evenly over the naan bread. Place the naan on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to crisp up the flatbread base.
  3. Add Cheese and Tomato Toppings: Remove the naan from the oven. Layer the three slices of fresh mozzarella evenly on top, sprinkle with salt and pepper, then add thin tomato slices. Season the tomatoes with another light sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  4. Bake Again and Broil: Return the flatbread to the oven for 5 more minutes to melt the cheese. Then broil for an additional 2-3 minutes, keeping a close watch to prevent burning, until the edges are golden and cheese is bubbly.
  5. Make the Balsamic Garlic Dressing: While the flatbread bakes, mix the remaining garlic oil with 1.5 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, stirring until it forms a smooth emulsion.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once the flatbread pizza is golden and cooked through, remove from the oven. Drizzle the balsamic-garlic dressing over the top, sprinkle with chopped fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Keep a close eye during the broil step to avoid burning the flatbread.
  • Use fresh mozzarella for the best melt and flavor.
  • If fresh garlic is not available, 1 tsp of garlic powder can be used as a substitute.
  • You can substitute naan with pita or other flatbread alternatives.
  • For a vegan version, substitute mozzarella with vegan cheese and omit or replace balsamic glaze accordingly.
